DONALDSON AWARDED CONTRACT BY U.S. ARMY'S FUTURE COMBAT SYSTEMS PROGRAM
PowerCore™ Air Filtration Technology to be included in Manned Ground Vehicle Program
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – April 3, 2007 – Donaldson Company (NYSE:DCI), a leading, worldwide manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, has been selected by General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, and BAE Systems, to provide Donaldson PowerCore™ Air Filtration technology as part of the Propulsion solution for the Systems Development and Demonstration phase of the Future Combat Systems (FCS) Manned Ground Vehicle Program.
Future Combat Systems, the Army's flagship transformation program, provides the tactical formations required to fulfill the Army's vision for an Objective Force. The Army and its Lead System Integrator (LSI) team, Boeing and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), began the System Development and Demonstration phase of the FCS program in May 2003.
The LSI, working in partnership with the U.S. Army, has total systems integration responsibility for the FCS program. They are responsible for the identification, selection and procurement of major systems and subsystems. General Dynamics Land Systems and BAE Systems were selected by the LSI, to form an integrated design team for the manned ground vehicle portion of the FCS program. The formation of the integrated design team will reduce risk, and support the Army's aggressive timeline through the design effort.
Under the contract, Donaldson will provide a static PowerCore air cleaner assembly as part of the propulsion solution to power the FCS's family of Manned Ground Vehicles for the System Development and Demonstration phase. "The exclusive filtration technology system offered by Donaldson's PowerCore is proven to keep military equipment running efficiently and reliably in a variety of dust level environments."
Donaldson PowerCore filters have twice the amount of filter media as conventional pleated media used in traditional engine filtration solutions. The upgraded air cleaner is designed for greater dust holding capacity and is three times more efficient than standard cellulose pleated media with no impact upon engine performance (airflow).
